About Me
I arrived at Bob Jones University as a Math Education major in the late 1970s. At the Lord's prompting in my heart, I changed my major to Bible after my first semester and then gradually fell in love with Greek over my remaining undergraduate years, primarily under the tutelage of Dr. Samuel Schnaiter.
My hesitation to attend Seminary was overcome by the attractiveness of the opportunity to teach Greek as a graduate assistant at BJU. One thing led to another and I eventually completed the Ph.D. in New Testament Interpretation, with a special focus on the Greek text. After some years working in BJU's Mack Library and at BJU Press, I was presented the opportunity to assume the teaching load of Dr. Marshall Neal, another of my mentors, who had just retired. I continued to teach primarily Greek courses in the Seminary until May of 2019, when my BJU employment was terminated in a downsizing move under budgetary pressure.
Teaching and preaching have been my delight over the years, and I continue to desire to be of service to those engaged in the ministry of the Word in these roles. The unfortunate demise of BibleWorks software in 2018 presents the opportunity for the sentence diagrams that I was privileged to draw for that program in the years 2004-2006 to take on another form, in which they may perhaps receive wider distribution. May the Lord prosper and use them as He knows best!
Since January, 2020, when the sentence diagrams in PDF form went on sale, the possibility of my being able to provide for my family by self-employment in Greek-related activities has been looking mildly encouraging. And I certainly have enjoyed myself, with a sense of the Lord's direction and provision. Still, the nature of my longer-term employment remains uncertain, and I welcome inquiries
from any who may think that I might be of service on a remunerated basis.
